Alaska Airlines grounded flights at airports nationwide on the day due to a technical issue.
The airline announced that it was "facing an IT outage impacting flight schedules" and issued "an operational pause."
The airline did not say the duration the outage would last or the number of flights were affected. It said it was "working to resume our operations" after the incident.
The operational halt also impacted the regional carrier, which is a subsidiary of Alaska Airlines, according to an advisory by the aviation authority.
The airline, a member of The Alaska Air Group based in the Pacific Northwest, mainly serves on the western seaboard of the United States. It services 140 destinations worldwide, including multiple states and 12 countries, according to its website.
Last year, the airline joined forces with another carrier, which was not impacted by Thursday's ground stop.
It is the latest technical failure affecting the carrier in recent months. Earlier this year, an issue disrupted operations for about three hours.
The company did not provide a comment on Thursday to media inquiries.
US air travel has been disrupted in the past few weeks due to federal budget issues that started recently. Shortage of flight controllers reporting for duty has caused delays at several airports.
